| Grading of Records
We use a modified version of the Goldmine system. When we grade vinyls as Near-Mint, it truly is Near-Mint. The only modification to the system is that a VG++ has been added for those vinyls that other sites might normally grade as Near Mint . This system has worked well for us on auction sites.
Mint: Vinyl is either still sealed or unplayed and an opened jacket will never receive this grade. Near Mint: Full gloss, no scratches or scuffs. Jacket will have no creases, blunts, stains or ring-wear. VG++ (Very Good plus plus): Original gloss, light scuffs but uncompromised sound quality. Jacket might show slight shelf-wear. VG+ (Very Good plus): prominent scuffs but uncompromised sound quality. Jacket may show some ring-wear or some fading and may have an oop (out-of-print hole or sawcut) but will not be torn or split on edges. VG (Very Good): Some gloss, scratches and/or scuffs, some loss of sound quality, but no skipping. Jacket split, torn, stained, or warped. Good: Poor quality, but rare, or desirable
Grading of Collectables
This system is basically the same as our record grading system. Some items are marked VG+ or Excellent. These are essentially the same and are meant to describe items that are just short of being graded as Near-Mint
Mint: Flawless. Near Mint: The slightest wear that only a very close inspection will uncover. Excellent/Very Good+: Minimal wear or aging. Very Good: Beautifully aged/worn. Good: Much surface wear. Collectable: Broken yet desirable |
